Have you ever been in a really good rhythm with working out and it comes up in conversation and the person you are talking to says, “but you need a rest day” or “that’s not healthy to workout that many times per week”?
Guess what? Rest doesn’t mean inactive. You can have a Rest Day, and still go for a walk or two. You do not have to sit dormant. Actually moving helps break up the lactic acid in your muscles, if they are sore. So if you consider light activity to be a workout then you can work out 7 days a week if you want to.
Personally, if I don’t stay somewhat active, I get demotivated easily. A body in motion, stays in motion. Isn’t that the phrase? I’ve given up so many times because of a Rest Day. One usually leads to another. For me, it isn’t worth it. Plus, you benefit from the movement.
However! If you want your Rest Day to mean no activity, that is fine too. Because you are in control of your life. You don’t have to listen to anybody. I am simply here to help you see that you should do what feels right to you. What feels like the most self respect? It’s your choice!
